Hi Bakery Fans,

You may or may not be aware that the building we lease has been sold to a new owner.  Our original lease was set to expire on October 31 of 2025, but we have been able to negotiate staying until April 2026, and then we will have to move along. Unfortunately, the lease extension comes with a hefty rent increase.

It is a bittersweet announcement. We will be able to provide so many holiday favorites for one final time. We will be here baking breads and pastries through ski season.  We will get to see so many of you that have supported us over the last 15 years before we say goodbye.  The rent increase also means that I have to increase prices.  It will be most noticeable across the breads as I have resisted increasing prices all that much over the years.

Some questions you may have:

What's Next?

I don't have a good answer to that.  We have turned over a lot of stones.  It is expensive, stressful, and exhausting to build out a retail bakery.  We have done that twice and don't have the energy to go at it a third time.  We are exploring a lot of options at the moment, but the only thing I can say for certain is that Vintage Baking Company as you have known it in Glen will close for business after March 7, 2026.

What about my gift certificate?

If you have a gift certificate to use, PLEASE use it.  We are beholden to pay them out if they are not used when we close.  We have MANY gift certificates that have been gifted that have never been used.  If you don't live nearby we have a couple of options that can be shipped, namely Granola.  I also have a fresh printing of cookie cookbooks you could order and I'd be happy to mail it to you.

What about classes?

They are coming, I swear!

Right now we are dealing with being really short staffed and are personally managing burnout from all of the stress this change in ownership has caused.  Once we get on a path forward, I'll post them.  I plan on hosting at lease one pie class this fall, a Holiday Cookie class, and maybe a sourdough class.  Is there a specific class you'd like to take? If there is please send me an email and let me know.

Cheers,

Lisa

Some other important things to know:

-We are really short staffed at the moment.  We are in the process of hiring some new bakers, but until we get more folks trained up we will be CLOSED on Wednesdays.  Hopefully this will only be for a few weeks.

-Holiday orders this year will be limited.  In the past we have taken as many orders as we could, but this year I will need to put a cap on how much we produce so that we don't have an excess amount of packaging left over.

-Online ordering is going to be your best friend.  Ordering ahead allows us to take the pressure off of the retail inventory.  If you can order even a day ahead, it allows to adjust our bakes so that there will be plenty for everyone.

-Have patience.  Staffing is going to be thin from here on out as it is hard to staff for such a short period.  Waits may be longer and items may be sold out.  We WANT to make you incredible bread and cinnamon rolls, but there's only so much we can make so fast with fewer hands.
